Thomas Batista

Born in La Guaira, Venezuela, Thomas Batista has studied painting at Oklahoma City University, Atelier Nazaret CHARITAS, Academia de Arte Power and Universidad Simon Bolivar. Based on people and places drawn from memory, Batista's paintings inject imagination into personal history, using vivid color and fluid movement to evoke an emotional response from the viewer. This artistic practice underscores the function of art for the artist: the disruption of reality. Batista's work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions through the United States and Venezuela, including a one-man show at the Kirkpatrick Center Museum Complex in Oklahoma City.
