John Seward

Artist Info
John SewardAmerican, b. 1950

A native of Oklahoma City and co-founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, John M. Seward's doubled interest in painting and photography has led to active experimentation with mixed media and labor-intensive printmaking techniques including intaglio, monotype and chine-collé. In the tradition of Kurt Schwitters, Joseph Cornell, and Robert Rauschenberg, Seward layers imagery, text, and three dimensional found objects like currency, origami, and feathers, thereby exploring in his assemblages the human figure in relationship to the botanical and commercial worlds. His work has been exhibited across the country including MAINSITE in Norman, Oklahoma, and BGH Gallery in Santa Monica. (JRB Art at the Elms Gallery)
